Darkness Arises: Sombraby *Primogenitor34

_{This... took... FOREVER TO DO...} but it's well worth the trouble, for sure!

My first drawing done in Illustrator (all of my other digital works up 'til now were done in GIMP), and they don't kid around when they say it is so much cleaner to use. This is basically an attempt at a new style for me; one of my many (see: 5) New Year's Resolutions.

This is also the first drawing I've done where I used a drawing tablet, specifically for the hair, tail, and background fog. It ain't easy, but I think I'll try to use the tablet pen more often in my next images.

Oh yes, onto the drawing itself. This is King Sombra, the villain from Friendship is Magic's 3rd Season Premiere. I love the guy, I think he has tons of potential. Plus, I think he'd look much better as a monster, but since he's the villain of a family-friendly show... you know the rest. Here's my interpretation of what I would love for Sombra to look like. I also made his emblem completely by hand; no pre-made shapes or anythin'!

I also learned how to make rain and smoke for this project. Pretty nifty, huh? They were both inspired by the song I was listening to for pretty much the entire creation of this image, Ozzy Osbourne's Black Rain. I thought Sombra and the entire album of the same name (that I bought just before starting this drawing) matched pretty well together.

Also, I'm not too sure many people caught this, but:

SOMBRA = Somber + Umbra

At least, that's what I think. Right?

He's what us Tropers call a Knight of Cerebus. A character that darkens the mood and shifts the tone to a much more serious.

Personaly, I think they should of keep him mute like Saroun. Just nothing except maybe a chuckle and that one line and maybe have him go insane near the end and act like a caged monster.
